About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Public Policy to serve as the principal staff for state government affairs and chief lobbyist in California. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the organization before the state's legislature, governor, relevant state agencies, and various community stakeholders. This role involves overseeing grassroots engagement, volunteer recruitment, and the implementation of the organization's state and federal public policy priorities, particularly those related to Medicaid, long-term care, training standards, aging, and workforce. The VP will also be tasked with planning and executing a multi-year state legislative and regulatory agenda, ensuring compliance with lobbying regulations, and managing the Association's chapter/state budget in support of advocacy activities. Applicants for the Vice President of Public Policy position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10-15 years in a state government affairs setting, legislative staff, or relevant state agency. The role requires a deep understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and budget processes in California, as well as experience in issues related to Medicaid, senior, aging, health, and long-term care. Political or issue advocacy campaign experience is desired, and a background in volunteer management is a plus. The ideal candidate will be a proven self-starter with excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and tasks with attention to detail. A valid driver's license and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations are also essential.
