The University of Georgia is seeking a Student Assistant - Information Technology. The IT Student Assistant will work as part of the IT client support team to assist in troubleshooting and resolving technology-related issues reported through the University Health Center’s helpdesk phone and ticketing system, as well as supporting health center staff with technology focused workflows. This position will also assist with the management of IT inventory, including imaging and deploying computer systems, preparing deprecated equipment for surplus, and maintaining IT storage spaces. The individual in this role may also have opportunities to assist the larger health center IT department with special projects. Responsibilities: Assist with management of IT inventory. Prepare new hardware for deployment, including imaging, client configuration, and hardware / software installation. Prepare deprecated equipment for surplus, including removing hard drives, documenting inventory information, and coordinating pick-up / drop-off with our Materials Department. Assist with maintenance of IT equipment storage facilities. Work with Lead Client Support Professional and IT Client Support Professional to resolve technical issues reported by health center staff. Replace / install hardware and peripherals. Repair / replace damaged or faulty computer components. Assist health center staff with use of hardware and software. Assist Network and Systems Administrators with projects, including helping with set up of specialized hardware and data entry for automated processes. Other duties as assigned Requirements: Technical knowledge in the field acquired through 6 months experience or equivalent coursework. Good listening skills, ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of personalities. Demonstrated working knowledge of computer and network hardware, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment, and audio/video equipment, Windows based computer software packages. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of information in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA and other federal, state, Board of Regents, and UGA regulatory requirements.
