Base pay range $19.00/hr - $19.00/hr Employment type Full-Time Job description Lazy Bear is looking for a full-time Sommelier, with experience working in a fine dining environment. The person that fits this role must be able to maintain a friendly, graceful, and elegant presence on the floor while operating in a very fast paced, high pressure environment. More importantly, this person should have a passion for hospitality, a desire for new experiences, and a drive to improve themselves and their environment every day. We look for team oriented members with radiant personalities and those that enjoy higher level dining in their spare time. Most importantly, the right candidate will have an extreme intellectual curiosity and drive to grow, and they will be interested in pursuing higher levels of education (which are supported by Lazy Bear). Qualification requirements Extensive wine knowledge is a requirement, CMS Certified or higher, or another service based Certification Passion for food, wine, hospitality and the restaurant industry Must be able to fluently read/write English Ability to work effectively and gracefully in a fast paced, high pressure environment is crucial Job duties Provide a high level of service to guests, even in a communal dining experience Contribute and elevate service with a strong dedication to detail Work closely with cooks to have a full understanding of our menu and overall mission Work closely with the Beverage Director and Head Sommelier to have a thorough understanding of the wine and beverage program Assist with maintenance and growth of the Beverage Program in all aspects, including but not limited to assisting with inventory, participating in vendor/trade tastings, and conducting staff education Stay current on changes to the wine program on a day-to-day basis Full knowledge of the Lazy Bear Food Menu, savory and pastry Being able to control a station, assisting in marking, clearing, and running food Communicate with guests and coworkers in a professional, clear, precise and efficient manner Understand all aspects of service and be a role model/leader for other members of the Front of House team Maintain an elegant and professional manner on the floor at all times Understand our guests and be able to provide them with the experience they desire within the scope of our restaurant About Lazy Bear Lazy Bear is a fine dining restaurant in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. We serve modern American cuisine influenced by American nostalgia, preservation and the wild, with a pre-fixe menu of 10-14 courses.
