Position Summary

American Flagging, LLC is a rapidly growing company that provides traffic control products and/or services to clients throughout the states of Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine. The Safety Manager reports to the company’s General Manager and collaborates with the Helix Traffic Solutions corporate safety team in developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of a continuous improvement safety culture.

Essential Functions

  • Leads and improves the American Flagging safety initiatives by providing comprehensive training, safety awareness, administrative oversight, and timely incident reporting
  • Ensures that all company personnel are trained regarding safety specific functions such as flagging, safe driving, traffic control set-up, etc.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers comprehensive safety training presentations tailored to various roles and operational environments, ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate engaging new hire safety orientations that cover essential topics such as hazard identification, emergency procedures, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
  • Continuously assess training effectiveness through feedback, incident analysis, and performance metrics, making improvements to enhance learning outcomes and safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Conducts facility and project audits to evaluate and improve overall safety performance and risk reduction
  • Assists in obtaining information on all claims (Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto, etc.) in accordance with established company and insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Conduct or arrange safety training as identified
  • Maintains OSHA recordkeeping and other administrative requirements related to safety operations for all locations
  • Responsible for administration and procurement of the Samsara GPS based vehicle program
  • Implementation and administration of a substance abuse testing program
  • Foster and build professional relationships with customers, service providers, regulators

Required/ Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid state issued driver’s license subjected to MVR evaluation
  • College degree or demonstration of working toward a college degree in safety/ civil engineering a plus.
  • Total of 5 years relevant experience preferably direct EHS experience or in construction.
  • Previous supervisory experience a plus.
  • General understanding of OSHA regulations, USDOT compliance and MUTCD/ Traffic Control principals. Preference will be given to those candidates with MUTCD/ Traffic Control experience/ knowledge
  • Professional certifications a plus (OSHA 500, CHST, ACSP, FA/ CPR Trainer)
  • Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating safety training programs
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office- Excel, Word, PPT) required.
  • Working experience with insurance claims (data collection, reporting, claim reviews).

Work Location

The American Flagging, LLC headquarters is in Hudson, NH. This position will be based out of headquarters with travel to branch locations as needed.
