Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a RELAP5-3D Software Developer. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Collaborative Computing Center with every other Friday off. You will report to the manager of the Thermal Fluids Systems Methods & Analysis Department. The RELAP5 research specialist will use RELAP5-3D and related software to perform thermal and design analysis on both experiments and conventional and advanced nuclear reactors. Some knowledge of the primary phenomenological areas of reactors: two-phase thermal fluid flow, heat transfer in solids, neutron kinetic, trips, and control systems is necessary. Responsibilities Include:
- You will perform analysis will support iterative design process, predicted temperature analysis, and final safety analysis.
- Perform calculations using a combination of RELAP5, Abaqus, and Ansys software.
- Plan, develop and implement software-engineering solutions to complex problems and major projects for RELAP5.
- Maintain and upgrade a variety of systems and develop new software capabilities for RELAP5-3D.
- Review source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and possible effects of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
- Create new methodologies and architectures that grow the organizations' mission.
- Document activities, reports, existing technologies.
- Contribute to RELAP5-3D training material
- Write and present technical papers representing INL.
- Apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complex processes and information display and visualization.
- Support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design and development activities.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
- Level 1: BS in Computer Science or related field.
- Level 2: BS in computer science or related field and 2 years relevant experience or a MS in the same or PhD in the same.
- Experience working on Linux operating system.

- The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($63,528.00 - $130,284.00 / Level 2 ($75,804.00- $155,496.00). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
