Department: 37344 Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center - Administration: Aurora Stem Cell Treatments Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hou rs Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Full time RN coordinator focused on post-stem cell transplantation or cellular therapy care coordination Major Responsibilities: Participates in the design, development and implementation of new treatments. Collaborates with appropriate health care professionals to properly implement treatments. Evaluates patients for entry into available treatment plans or clinical trials. Plans individualized care to improve the quality of practice and patient care outcomes. Monitors patient responses to treatments and communicates findings to health care team. Facilitates the scheduling of tests and procedures for patients participating in treatment plans and/or clinical trials according to protocol design. Monitors treatments and documents/reports adverse events. Participates in analyzing, summarizing, publishing and presenting the results of treatment. Integrates results into improved patient care and increased clinical knowledge. Serves as program liaison to community-based physicians and staff regarding patient referrals for treatments. Serves as a resource to all disciplines and the community relative to the care of patients on treatment plans and/or clinical trials. Communicates relevant summary information from the treatments. Provides documentation as necessary for insurance contracts and facilitates attainment of financial coverage for the therapy. Collects, completes and submits data using appropriate documents/forms according to hospital or regulatory policies including routine data reporting and adverse event reporting. Coordinates and provides education to health related professionals regarding treatment plans and/or clinical trials. Provides patient education related to treatment plan/clinical trials and the informed consent process. Coordinates the preparation of regulatory documents for submission to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Federal Drug Administration (FDA) reports as appropriate. Facilitates the collection, processing and submission of specimens (e.g., blood/serum, pathology slides) to the appropriate location per protocol requirements. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices. Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience Required: Typically requires 3 years of experience in oncology clinical nursing. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Clinical competence in patient care, teaching and management of patients and families in related field as demonstrated by related experience or, if currently working for Aurora Metro Region, as demonstrated by achieving stage 4 or 5 in Metro Clinical Practice Development Model. Proficient with advanced word processing and other software applications unique to the department, i.e., graphics, data reporting, etc. Ability to interact on a scientific level with medical staff, community physicians and representatives of national pharmaceutical groups. Demonstrated effective leadership and good communication skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation and blood and body fluids on a continuous basis. Therefore, is required to wear protective gear (gown, mask, goggles, gloves, etc.) as needed. Ability to function in a latex environment. Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently during the work shift. Must have functional sight and hearing. Exposed to normal office environment.
