KERA, the public media organization serving North Texas, is seeking a dynamic Radio Operations and Production Coordinator to join our team.

POSITION SUMMARY The Radio Operations & Production Coordinator works with the Radio Operations Team and other station staff to provide regular, high-quality, original KERA-produced audio content. The Radio Operations Team supports all three of KERA’s radio stations: KERA News (90.1), KXT (the AAA station; 91.7) and WRR (the classical station, 101.1).
This position maintains the automation and playout system of KXT, the ENCO database, and produces spots and imaging for air on KERA News, KXT and WRR. This position also fills in with KERA News or WRR board operation duties and helps record/edit/mix the KXT Live Sessions and other live performances for broadcast and web distribution.
This is a full-time, FLSA classified non-exempt position, which is eligible for overtime. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Radio Operations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO: - Host / fill-in on KXT, KERA News, and WRR (weekdays or weekends) live or voice-tracked, as assigned
- Ensure the integrity and proper operation of the KXT ENCO automation systems & data base
- Act as a liaison between KXT Programming and Engineering departments
- Troubleshoot equipment issues
- Be on call for any radio operational failures, as needed and requested
- Produce on-air spots (daily promos and imaging) for KXT, KERA and WRR, as assigned
- Participate in, or assist with on-air fund drives on KXT, KERA News, and WRR to ensure successful results
- Assist with the recording/editing/mixing of the KXT Live Session series and other studio and field recordings
- Acquire and load into playout system KXT and WRR music, prepare files for air, inserting cues and segues
- Public appearances or stage announces, as needed
- Additional radio operational, programming, or studio assistance, as needed

- The ideal person for this position is a highly talented quick study, with a demonstrably good ear for music that fits the noncommercial public radio music discovery, classical, and News/Talk formats and helps build a significant and loyal audience on the radio stations.
- A minimum of 3 years professional experience in broadcasting, audio and multimedia production or a related field.
- Demonstrated time management and technical skills
- Must be able to periodically work on weekends, irregular hours, holidays, and as needed
- Valid Texas Driver’s License, reliable transportation and insurance required for assignments/activities that involve work outside of the office.
BONUS IF YOU BRING: - Experience working within the public radio system in an NPR-based station environment.
- Knowledge of ENCO and/or Wheatstone systems.
- Familiarity with how non-commercial radio programming works.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Proven ability to work successfully as part of a team and collaborate with internal and external contacts.
- Knowledge of FCC rules and requirements.
- Deep experience with Adobe Audition.
SALARY RANGE $54,000-$64,000 annually depending on experience

LOCATION:
We expect that this position will work out of our Dallas office 80% of the time.
