This position will support the Palisades Tunnel project in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates all fleet vehicles and equipment against all applicable federal and local regulatory and technical requirements, as well as with applicable company guidelines. These include (but are not limited to) environmental (EPA, etc.), occupational safety (OSHA, MSHA, etc.), vehicle licensure and registration (DOT, etc.), and inspection (DOT, EPA, etc.) regulations.
  • Supports the development and ongoing update of lists and schedules of machinery, equipment, and plants required for the relevant project.
  • Supports the Plant Manager in the requisition process for the Plants and Machinery, coordinating with the HQ Mechanical Department, for the potential reallocation of the available company assets.
  • Confirms receipt of and provides completed new equipment specifications worksheet for all newly received equipment.
  • Supports the Plant Manager in evaluating the need, initializing requisition process, monitoring utilization, monitoring cost, and overall managing short term rentals (<6 months duration).
  • Supports machinery, equipment, and plant repair needs, evaluates repair options, and supports the procurement of spare parts, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and technical requirements, as well as with the applicable company guidelines and cost targets.
  • Communicates information and coordinates major repairs related to Plants and Machinery to the project Plant Manager and HQ Mechanical Department. Plans and manages all needed repairs with input from EM and operations as needed.
  • With the support of QHSE and HR, identifies any relevant training needs and assesses their effectiveness.
  • Ensures machinery, equipment, and plant Preventive Maintenance schedules are followed. Maintains and documents PM WOs.
  • Supports yearly DOT inspection program. Provides field support in managing fleet licenses and tags.
  • Supports the move and installation of all plants. Supports capital plant repairs and upgrades.
  • Documents equipment moves in ERP (JDE).
  • Supports accurate collection, analysis, and submission of all key data and indicators related to the Plants and Machinery at the project level. This includes (but is not limited to) equipment repair and rental costs, equipment hour meter readings, vehicle mileage readings, fuel dispensed, and equipment downtime hours.
  • Ensures all Mechanical/P&E employees, equipment, and processes are working in a safe manner meeting all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Assists the environmental department in obtaining and compliance with all environmental permits, laws, and company policies.
  • Supports the annual inventory of machinery, plants and equipment for the project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. or A.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required. Alternately, five years (minimum) experience managing heavy vehicle or construction fleet required.
  • Computer skills including experience with Word and Excel.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including a willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or nightshift as needed for extended periods of time.
  • Experience in underground/tunnel applications is plus but not required
