University Advising and Exploratory Studies (UAES) in the University College serves the University by providing quality, timely advising services and support to students in transition, and to advisors and faculty across campus. Students are served through in- person virtual advising, drop-in advising, workshops and other programming, course offerings, and online resources. Through comprehensive work with students, staff, and faculty, UAES facilitates student academic success, major selection, career development, and personal enrichment. The Inter-College Transfer (ICT) Program supports NC State undergraduate students seeking to change majors outside of their current college but are undecided on their future major and career goal. Re-deciding students at the University have the opportunity to visit the units drop-in advising or participate in ICT advising major selection, career development, and personal enrichment program. Students are assisted through an inquiry-guided exploration of their academic interests, skills, strengths, and aptitude to help them establish realistic academic goals and objectives. What we offer:
University Advising and Exploratory Studies is part of the University College in the Division of Academic & Student Affairs. This position will provide quality advising (both in-person and virtual) to undecided students following a developmental philosophy of advising and National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) standards and will maintain appropriate records.
The Inter-College Transfer (ICT) academic advisor provides advising for both ICT and Exploratory Studies students at NC State. This position also serves as an assigned lecturer for sections of the first year orientation course, career exploration course, or transfer student transition course each fall and spring according to the guidelines established by NC State and appropriate curriculum. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Advising: 45%Other duties as assigned.
Professional Development: Actively participates in University College, and departmental team professional development and training opportunities. Engage in regular professional development opportunities to maintain and improve knowledge and expertise in advising, teaching, technology for advising and teaching, and specialty areas. Minimum Education and Experience:Masters degree and five (5) years of advising experience. Equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted on an exceptional basis.
