Position Summary The Instructional Coach at North Lawndale College Prep (NLCP) is a pivotal role dedicated to enhancing teacher effectiveness and student achievement. This position focuses on building teacher capacity through collaborative coaching, data-driven instruction, and continuous professional development. The Instructional Coach works closely with educators to implement evidence-based teaching practices, align instruction with NLCP's academic goals, and foster a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement. Reports To: Principal or designee Position Responsibilities Instructional Support & Teacher Development Provide one-on-one and small group coaching and supervisions to teachers to strengthen instructional practices, support lesson planning, and improve student outcomes. Conduct classroom observations, followed by actionable feedback and collaborative reflection cycles. Support teachers in implementing culturally responsive and evidence-based instructional strategies aligned to NLCP's academic framework. Collaborate with teachers to analyze student work and assessment data to inform instruction and differentiate support. Model high-impact instructional practices through demonstration lessons and co-teaching. Coach teachers on how to implement instructional modifications and accommodations to support students with diverse learning needs, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, English Learners, and those requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. Collaborate with the MTSS and Special Education teams to ensure inclusive practices are consistently implemented across classrooms. Strong in student discipline and classroom management Professional Development Design and facilitate school-based professional development aligned to teacher needs, school improvement goals, and academic priorities. Lead or support the facilitation of weekly content/grade-level team meetings, data analysis sessions, instructional planning sessions, and inquiry cycles. Provide onboarding and support for new teachers to accelerate their integration and instructional readiness. Contribute to the design of network-wide professional learning experiences that elevate best practices and build teacher leadership. Data-Driven Improvement Utilize student achievement data, formative assessments, and classroom observation data to identify instructional trends and coaching priorities. Track teacher growth and progress toward goals using coaching logs, observation rubrics, and feedback tools. Collaborate with school leaders to interpret data patterns and co-develop targeted action plans to address areas of need. Support schoolwide efforts related to continuous improvement, academic goal setting, and instructional equity. Collaboration & Leadership Serve as a key member of the instructional leadership team, contributing to school-wide planning and decision-making. Partner with School Leaders, Content/Department Leads, and MTSS teams to ensure coherence between instructional coaching, interventions, and curricular initiatives. Maintain strong and trusting relationships with teachers, grounded in professionalism and with a shared commitment to student success. Actively engage in reflective practice, pursuing ongoing learning and development to improve coaching effectiveness. Compliance & Instructional Accountability Monitor the submission, quality, and alignment of instructional materials, including lesson plans, syllabi, unit plans, and pacing guides. Review teacher gradebooks regularly to ensure alignment with grading policies, consistency in feedback, and timely data entry. Provide feedback and coaching on instructional documentation to ensure it reflects rigorous standards, culturally responsive practices, and appropriate scaffolds. Support school leadership in ensuring teachers meet expectations tied to instructional planning, progress monitoring, and curricular implementation. Collaborate with administration to address areas of non-compliance and develop individualized improvement plans as needed. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field (required) (Masters preferred) Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching, instructional leadership, or an academic leadership role. Experience using student data to drive intervention planning and instructional decision-making. Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with teachers, administrators, and families. Knowledge of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions. Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Commitment to educational equity and the belief that all students can succeed. Good level of proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Drive) and general computer applications Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and interact with students and staff. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Frequent work in a school setting with a moderate to loud noise level.
