Job Summary The Infection Preventionist conducts organization-wide surveillance, reporting of communicable diseases to public health, monitors environment for infection prevention and control risks, and provides educational/in-service activities that support the organization-wide infection control program, including inpatient and ambulatory. The ideal candidate will have acute care infection prevention experience with a pediatric population. Pay Range Minimum $104,832 Midpoint $138,902 Maximum $172,973 Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.   • Required: Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in infection control & epidemiology.
Education * Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing, lab/health science, public health or related health field. If RN Certification in Infection Control, then BSN required within three years of hire. Training * Required: Knowledge of Joint Commission, CDC, CAL OSHA, CDPH standards for infection prevention and control. Specialized Skills * Required: Project management skills. Knowledge of CDC-NHSN definitions, software and data analysis. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission; and understand and exceed customer expectations. Strong organization and prioritizing skills; strong verbal and written communications; strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, and strong computer skills.
