HVAC CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

SUMMARY

MECCO is seeking an HVAC Construction Superintendent in Columbia, MD to oversee commercial mechanical system installations. MECCO is a local 602, 100 and 5 commercial mechanical contractor, with a reputation for excellence. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the HVAC mechanical, plumbing and sheet metal industries, leadership skills, and ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and project specifications and be familiar with industry safety regulations and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Maintain construction schedule for all field crews.
• Advise crews of project locations and brief scope of work.
• Work with foreman and Project Managers to complete projects.
• Attend all labor, billing and cost-to-complete meetings,
• Provide education in-house and coordinate out-sourced education as needed.
• Contribute to performance reviews of field crews.
• Work with Director of Construction to forecast upcoming work.
• Provide technical information to Project Managers for project change orders and RFIs.
• Build and maintain customer relationships to ensure positive outcome and satisfaction
• Drive and build inter-business relationships
• Work with salesmen, estimators and service managers to visit job site and assist with estimates.
• Schedule deliveries for construction projects with drivers and General Contractors;
• Continually develop working relationships with General Contractors;

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position supervises the construction department field foremen, field apprentices and drivers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10+ years of experience in the HVAC mechanical, plumbing and sheet metal industries
• Must be able to manage complex business relationships with manufacturers, customers, and partner organizations.
• Must have strong PC experience in Windows environment, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Web-enabled applications and database software. CRM experience preferred.
• Strong business acumen.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and project specifications
• Ability to independently navigate the DC, MD and VA metropolitan areas in company provided vehicle
• Ability to oversee work performed on weekends, either in person or remotely.

This position requires working at construction sites, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration. The noise level in the work environment varies.
