Job Description
**House Sitter Needed: Victorian Rowhouse in Patterson Park (Baltimore)**
==The Situation:==
I'm looking for a reliable house sitter for my 3,300 sq ft Victorian rowhouse with direct Patterson Park frontage in Baltimore. My primary needs are straightforward:
- preventing porch pirates from stealing packages
- caring for two adorable friendly black cats.
In this neighborhood, anything left on the front step disappears within 10 minutes. I have several pre-orders scheduled to deliver with uncertain ship dates, and I need someone who can actually receive packages when they arrive rather than letting them sit out front.
==What I Actually Need:==
- Daily visits for cat care: feeding, water, litter box maintenance, and some attention (they're social and will demand pets)
- Availability during typical delivery hours (roughly 9am-8pm) to grab packages when tracking shows "out for delivery"
- Occasional overnight stays preferred for security presence and keeping the house looking occupied—you don't need to be there every night, but regular presence helps
- Basic mail collection and bringing in trash/recycling bins on collection days
- Responsiveness if something goes wrong (burst pipe, alarm, etc.)—though the house is in good condition and this is unlikely
==What You Get:==
A completely renovated Victorian with park views, full kitchen, comfortable living spaces, solid internet connection, and two friendly black cats who will absolutely sit on your laptop while you're trying to work. Patterson Park is one of Baltimore's better neighborhoods—walkable, actual trees, the park itself is genuinely nice. If you're looking for a place to stay in Baltimore with character rather than a suburban box, this is a good option.
The house is fully furnished, has working heating/AC, and all the standard amenities. No complex property management tasks, no plants that will die if you look at them wrong. The cats are legitimately friendly—they're not the kind that hide under the bed for days. They're fine being alone at night, but appreciate company during the day.
==Rate:==
$45-60 /day, negotiable and can go higher depending on level of presence and service. Package security is non-negotiable given the neighborhood dynamics, and the cats need consistent daily care.
==Ideal Candidate:==
- Cat person (obviously)
- Works remotely or has flexible daytime availability (can't have a 9-5 office job and be available for deliveries)
- Comfortable with urban Baltimore (this isn't the suburbs)
- Actually reliable—if you say you'll be there for a delivery, you need to be there
- Bonus points if you're familiar with handling collectibles/understand why someone cares about package security
==What This Isn't:==
This isn't a vacation rental where you never check in. I need daily presence for the cats and package reception. Occasional overnight stays are preferred but not required every night—use your judgment on maintaining security presence.
Message me with your experience, availability, and why you'd be a good fit. References appreciated, especially from previous pet-sitting gigs.
