Job Description

REMOTE POSITION We’re seeking a Staff Engineer to help drive technical excellence and innovation across our platform, with a particular focus on leveraging AI to transform how global talent connects with opportunities. You’ll work on complex technical challenges that span our entire platform, from AI-powered matching algorithms to scalable marketplace infrastructure. Exceptional Leadership: You don’t need to be a people manager to be a leader, and you’ll serve as a role model for the rest of the company. Think about the feedback your peers typically give you – if it usually sounds like the below, we want to hear from you. Low ego, low drama, servant leader: You share credit, take blame. You like being wrong because it means someone else had an even better idea. One team mentality: You break silos across teams. You put the company and mission first above yourself and team alone. Great listener, hungry for feedback: You’re always seeking to improve – our product, our business, yourself. You solicit diverse opinions and deeply listen. Owner, not renter: You see a problem, you fix it or find someone who will. The buck stops with you. Player-coach: You roll up your sleeves and get scrappy. You do this by proactively collaborating with your team while actively engaging in important details. Business problem solver: You’re not just a functional expert; you consistently get praise for approaching your function through the lens of solving business problems. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy for key platform initiatives. Design and implement core platform capabilities that power our AI-driven talent matching. Lead the technical evolution of our systems to support rapid scaling and enhanced AI capabilities. Mentor other engineers and elevate the technical discourse across the organization. Collaborate with product teams to translate ambitious goals into practical technical solutions. System Design & Implementation Architect and build scalable systems that handle complex matching algorithms and marketplace dynamics. Design and implement AI-powered features that enhance our talent evaluation and matching capabilities. Create robust, maintainable solutions that can scale with our global user base. Establish technical standards and best practices for system reliability and performance. Cross-functional Impact Work closely with product managers to shape technical strategy and execution. Partner with data scientists to implement and optimize AI/ML models. Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with global data privacy regulations. Guide technical decisions across multiple teams and workstreams. Qualifications: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. 3+ years of technical leadership experience driving complex projects. Strong background in distributed systems and scalable architectures. Experience building and scaling marketplace platforms or similar complex systems. A track record of making significant technical decisions that impacted product direction. Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence. Strong understanding of AI concepts and their practical applications. Excellence in written and verbal communication, particularly in technical contexts. While the team is distributed across the world, this role is US-based. Experience with AI/ML platform development. Background in talent matching algorithms or recommendation systems. Experience with large-scale data processing and analytics. Familiarity with global compliance and data privacy requirements. A track record of publishing technical content or speaking at conferences. Experience working with distributed, remote teams.
