GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs advanced (senior-level) consultative and electronic drafting assistance work.Work involves planning, developing, and implementing REVIT building models and providing consultative services and technical assistance to construction management staff, Facilities Connect Team, or the DPS staff.May serve as a lead drafting technician providing direction to others.Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Prepares preliminary and final plans and detailed drawings from field notes, instructions, original plans, proposed changes, diagrams, and other data into BIM Revit files.
2.Plans and prepares drawings to accomplish minor office modifications that maintain applicable building codes such as the ADA/TAS, NFPA 1, Life Safety code 101, and IBC.
3.Examines and analyzes data and measurements for items used in the design and creation of drawings and construction documents at determined scale for use in design, construction, an analysis.
4.Modifies or updates drawings according to approved change orders or other directives regarding any construction/remodeling activities occurring or accomplished in Department properties throughout TX.
5.Creates, implements, and maintains electronic building data files relating to facilities including owned and/or occupied by the agency statewide.
6.Maintains file room and reviews construction drawings and documents for accuracy and timeliness of agency owned buildings statewide.
7.Imports AutoCAD or REVIT drawings from architectural firms or the Texas Facilities Commission into the Department's computer network for direct use or, if required, conversion or translation to REVIT.
8.Travels to agency owned facilities statewide to perform Q&A and, when required, update current construction drawings to reflect changes.
9.Performs a variety of technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities for assigned program(s).
10.Manages REVIT/Autodesk Software with licenses, updates, and to assist with downloads.
11.Studies and analyzes operations and variations within programs, identifying problems, preparing reports of findings, and making recommendations to improve current operation or initiate new programs.Monitors Building Verification performance reports and recommends appropriate changes for moving forward.
12.Provides high-level advice and guidance by interpreting policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and standards related to the electronic building program; conducts training and provides guidance to staff in the development and integration of new or revised methods and procedures.
13.Work with Facilities Building Management system to integrate REVIT files into database to ensure data integrity.May assist in developing and implementing effective techniques for evaluating the building portfolio and electronic building programs.
14.Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
15.Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education - Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent which includes construction computer aided drafting courses.A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
Experience - Minimum of three (3) years' experience in modeling and problem solving in REVIT.
Substitution Note:Additional work experience of the type described may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis; OR completion of an accredited program in building construction drafting from an accredited technical school, PLUS three (3) years' or more full-time work experience in computer aided drafting for commercial building construction.
Licensure and/or Certification - Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.
Construction/Drafting Knowledge - Comprehensive knowledge of construction drafting principles, symbols, techniques, and procedures.Considerable knowledge of building construction methods and components.
Regulatory Knowledge - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Technology - Advanced skill in utilizing AutoCAD and REVIT.Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Office, and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and be able to learn new software/systems.
Interpersonal Skills - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.Must demonstrate DPS' core values: Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Teamwork.

Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail - Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends, relationships and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems.
Confidentiality and Protected Information - Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information.
Safety - Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices.
Schedule and/or Remote/Telecommuting work and/or Travel - Availability for non-normal business hours as needed. Travel (statewide) as needed.

State of Texas Benefits and Retirement Information: A
DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change. A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary. Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
