Copy Editor About the Role We are looking for a Copy Editor who knows how to simplify complexity. Someone who can see through jargon, focus on what matters, and make every word clearer and more useful. This role sits within our Corporate Marketing team. You will partner with designers, content, product, and marketers to ensure everything we publish is consistent, credible, and easy to understand. If a sentence feels like work for the reader, you will know how to fix it. The ideal candidate believes clarity builds trust, understands how to bring highly technical content to life, and ensures every message includes a strong, purposeful call to action. What You Will Do Review and edit various content types, including growth marketing (60%), product marketing (20%), brand (10%), and web content (10%) to improve clarity, tone, and accuracy. Build relationships to collaborate with other writers, product managers, and designers. Make sure SmartBear speaks in a clear, consistent voice across every touchpoint and that SmartBear's brand voice and style guidelines are maintained. Help teams simplify technical and complex concepts without losing precision by improving readability and flow. Collaborate with writers, designers, and stakeholders to move fast without sacrificing quality. Ensure calls to action are crisp, relevant, and aligned to audience needs. Maintain and evolve our editorial guidelines to support the company's tone and positioning. Review facts, terminology, and data to build trust in every piece of content. Craft headlines, CTAs, and short-form copy that connect with technical audiences. Ensure accuracy of facts, dates, names, and statistics. Uphold high editorial standards. What You Bring 3-5 years of proven professional editing and copywriting experience in highly technical B2B environments. Please do not apply if you do not have this experience. A sharp eye for grammar, structure, tone, and flow. A mindset focused on clarity, with proven skill simplifying technical or jargon-heavy writing. Proven ability to collaborate across teams and the ability to give and receive feedback productively. High attention to detail and a bias for clean, confident writing. Ability to work independently and quickly in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. The ability to always be learning and staying up-to-date on industry trends and tools. Experience with SEO and GEO principles. Exceptional command of English grammar and style. Attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to adapt writing style for different formats and audiences. Bonus Experience Background in product, journalism, English, communications, or a related field. Experience editing developer-focused or software documentation.
