Essential Functions

1. Operates boilers and auxiliary equipment for generation of steam.
2. Collects plant process data and logs throughout shift.
3. Performs maintenance on equipment as required.
4. Performs standard tests on water and steam condensate and chemically treats as needed.
5. Follows procedures and safety rules as required. Implements lockout/tag-out and confined entry policies to comply with O.S.H.A.
6. Performs other heating plant related responsibilities as necessary.
7. May cross-train in other mechanical/electrical trade shops and support other Facilities Services department needs.
8. Fills in for heating plant supervisor as needed
9. Reads gauges and thermometers and climb ladders.

1. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
2. Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear ma
3. Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
4. Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
5. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

• Working experience in boiler operation for 25 to 125 psi steam
• Driver's license required
• Must know spill prevention, control, and countermeasure process for heating plant. Must have thorough understanding of combustion control systems.
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check and physical exam
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
• Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 80 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
• Work evening or weekend hours
• MUST HAVE CT OE2 License
