General Summary

This role is responsible for providing ad hoc nursing leadership in a clinical capacity as needed. The clinical manager has authority to make decisions related to patient care.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Clinical Practice:

Leads and manages nursing and clinical support staff who provide independent care to unit specific patient population.

Oversees is and accountable to patients and families for the processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.

Unit Operations:

Approves charge nurse decisions; advises staff who perform charge role for assigned shifts as needed.

Follows and supports the AACN guidelines for Healthy Work Environment (communication, collaboration, effective decision making, recognition, leadership, staffing); participates as team member focusing on elements within the Healthy Work Environment.
