Job Description: Role Summary Responsible for day-to-day activities involving both clinical and operational aspects of pharmaceutical services, including but not limited to drug verification and distribution, patient consultation, physician collaboration, drug and therapy monitoring, and supervision.
Responsibilities •Review chemotherapy and immunotherapy orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness.
•Assist with inputting chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens
•Evaluate and interpret drug related laboratories. Recommend dose adjustment, addition or discontinuation of medication(s) as appropriate.
•Identify, resolve, and prevent medication-related problems, including, subtherapeutic dosage, overdose, drug-drug interactions, drug-disease interactions, adverse reactions, inaccuracies, and inappropriateness.
•Comprehensive evaluation of patient medical records, to provide proper patient counseling.
•Research and answer drug inquiries for clinical staff
•Perform drug utilization review, comprehensive medication review, and/or medication reconciliation.
•Drug utilization reporting, analysis and therapeutic drug interchanges
•Assist and oversee in-office dispensing workflows
•Oversee mixing technician and staff activities for in house dispensing and admixture
•Ensure proper storage and inventory of medications.
•Uphold organization policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws.
•Additional responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care in our community, for our community, and by oncologists who live in our community.
Competencies Requirements: •Ability to enter data in order to keep computerized records.
•Ability to perform light lifting and repetitious physical activity.
•Strong written and oral communication skills.
•Strong people skills for daily management of pharmacy staff and customer interactions.
•Project management with an emphasis on detail and follow through.
•Ability to work with high level executives and clinicians as well as the skills to develop effective working relationships with staff in various departments.
•Ability to work independently and within a team, excellent coaching skills
Education and Experience: •Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School with a Pharm.D. Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license issued by the South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy.
•Have at least ONE of the following credentials or experience:
o Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP)
o Completed PGY2 Oncology Residency and eligible for BCOP
o Completed PGY1 Pharmacy Residency + 1 year of Oncology Pharmacy experience
o Two (2) years of Oncology Pharmacy experience
o Three (3) years of Specialty Pharmacy experience
