Job Description

Haren Construction Company has an exciting opportunity in Etowah, Tennessee for full-time employment in the construction industry as an Assistant Project Manager.

Haren Construction Company, Inc. specializes in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and commercial and industrial types of construction.

Job Summary:
Assistant Project Managers will be tasked with assisting the project managers along with all the subcontractors to ensure tools, equipment, and materials are available, reports are prepared, contracts are negotiated, and risks are properly analyzed. Candidates should have the ability to work and communicate well within the team and our vendors and subcontractors.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Review and understand contract documentation.
  • Solicit, review, and scope subcontractor and vendor bids, quotations, and related contract specification sections.
  • Administer subcontracts for areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with project start-up, including obtaining permits and licenses and managing job site mobilization.
  • Responsible for project documentation management and project controls.
  • Assist in the development, planning, and updating of the overall project schedule.
  • Assist in the development of project quality control plan implementation in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Participate in subcontractor start-up meetings: writing agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Manage complete submittal logs and processing.
  • Create and manage tracking logs, including concrete and stone.
  • Manage a portion of project scope, including civil, structural, building, mechanical, and/or electrical.
  • Monitor and manage site safety compliance with job site-specific safety plan. Conduct safety surveys.
  • Support project managers in resolving daily problems and expediting materials in conjunction with field supervision.
  • Manage punch list and work with subcontractors to execute the punch list in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Manage project closeouts.
  • Willingness to travel (3-4 days per month)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent graduate with a bachelor's degree or higher in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related fields.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Great time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Good critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced understanding of construction processes, principles, materials, and tools.
